IMPASSE

IMPASSE

Haste on the Tickford Bridge.
Sarah in ‘The Dolphins’ shinning.
Another charade of subservience
Racing to the splash for peace and an upright rosette

The West or Central dilemma recurring
Overcast and with a costal people
In a cold hearted hurry.

Razors of disapproval
From an inconsolable Mother
Wielding her wretched dominion
As her only option.

The rolling road
Donning an autumnal beehive hairdo
All year round-And rolling!

And nothing’s for gratis
And no Dickensian deliverances yet.
But a boy needs decisive guidance
And doleful demeanors reassure no one!

But I’m an egg that cracks without fragmenting into smithereens too soon after.

This blue anorak has fused with ‘Me, the shadow’ for now.
Time spews up trivia and welcome sighs of relief.

The rolling road heaves to and pulls me through
One Stratford into another.

It’s a wet and bilious loss……………Oh!
I’ve heard of luckless paths enduring beyond comprehension.

History has been permitted to summarize itself here
To amuse all those with a crude or ill informed guile of it.

Incidental pedestrians play their part
Inside and out of shops that aspire to aspire.

The rain is loud and discourteous in interrupting
The gossip of loiterers so that there is always something good to be said for
The rolling road and yes I like to watch those vast dutiful trees upon its straights
And hamlet bothered bends courtesy in our temperamental wind
Under that all too familiar charcoal poisoned sky.
